It is suitable for applications where the locomotive details are transmitted on a serial link, SAE J1708 for recording and later analysis.

The Event Recorder Type MRT-919 is a micro controller based data recording unit for various locomotive run time parameters like speed, distance traveled, power etc. with Time & Date stamp. This data is received on serial link from EM2000 computer in GM locomotives. The data is stored in an onboard non-volatile read-write flash memory in separate blocks of Long and Short memory at 20sec & 1sec interval respectively. The data stored in the flash-memory can be downloaded on to a PC through USB port. The recorder is housed in a wall mounted MS sheet metal enclosure with connectors for making connections for the Power supply, Serial communication and USB.
